Multitasking has never been easier than with the DCL040, which has a 120-degree pivoting head with 11 detent positions, extending the range of visibility and optimizing the light projection angle. Its integrated hang hook allows for hands-free capability—hang it from rails, hooks, shelves, pegs, and other surfaces to spotlight your work area. With 110 lumens that deliver bright white LED output, the DCL040 allows the user to easily differentiate between colors and help reduce shadows; as an added benefit, the LED bulb creates less heat than conventional Xenon bulbs, improving energy efficiency and user safety. When paired with the 20-volt max 3.0 Ah lithium-ion battery (not included), the DCL040 provides up to 11 hours of light output. DEWALT-designed electronics are built into the switch, maximizing the life of the tool and battery by helping to protect them from overheating, overloading, and deep discharge during use. And the included charger has dual voltage capabilities and is compatible with both 12-volt max and 20-volt max DEWALT lithium-ion batteries.

Most of the lights included with toolkits are throwaway afterthoughts and are barely useful. The DCL040 changes that. This guy is rugged, easily positionable and QUITE bright. Actually it's brightness is what really sets this apart. I'm kind of a flashlight junkie and the DCL040 really gives some of my flashlights costing twice as much a run for their money. The secret is the CREE manufactured 1 watt LED. CREE LED's are pretty much cream-of-the crop and give off an extremely brilliant white light, which when coupled with a good reflector design, blasts your working area with a blanket of illumination. Which brings me to my next point. Runtime. LED's are notorious battery savers and this light is no different. The beam it throws is bright and very white. The center beam is focused, then there is a larger outer circle of light that is much softer. It would be nice if the lens were designed to turn and allow the user to refocus the bulb reflector configuration to best fit the situation. That being said, the beam it throws is very good and makes for an excellent all-purpose light. The head does swivel, but as one reviewer noted, the detents are not as ridgid as in some lights I have used, although under normal use the head will stay put.
